At Lancaster House Dental Practice, we provide both NHS and private dental care. We will always discuss your treatment options with you and explain any costs before treatment begins. Our NHS contract only covers routine NHS dental care (known as Tier 1 care).

Do I have to pay for NHS dental treatment?
Some patients are entitled to free NHS dental treatment.
You may qualify if you:
- Are under 18
- Are under 19 and in qualifying full-time education
- Are pregnant or have had a baby within the last 12 months
- Receive certain qualifying benefits
- Hold a valid NHS HC2 certificate
If you have an HC3 certificate, you may be entitled to help towards the cost of your NHS dental treatment.
If you are unsure whether you qualify for free treatment or help with NHS dental costs, please check the latest NHS guidance or ask our reception team for further information.
What if I would like treatment that is not available on the NHS?
We also offer a wide range of private dental treatments at Lancaster House Dental Practice.
In some situations, private treatment may provide additional treatment choices, materials or options that are not available as part of NHS care.
Your dentist will be happy to explain the options that are appropriate for you, including any NHS and private alternatives, so that you can make an informed choice about your treatment.
When do I pay for my NHS treatment?
Please note: All NHS treatment must be paid in full prior to treatment as per NHS (FP17 PR) guidelines.
If you have any questions about NHS charges, exemptions or paying for your treatment, please speak to a member of our team. We will be happy to help.
